Graham Lochhead

Graham Lochhead

Technical Sales Manager

Graham established the company in 1993. Qualifying as a Land Surveyor in 1976 and spending 12 years in the Land Survey sector before progressing into Sales with Aga Geotronics. Having covered Scotland and North East England for 8 years, Spectra Precision (formerly Geotronics) decided to introduce a different distribution model for sales and offered him his current territory as an independent. Trimble acquired Spectra Precision in July 2000 and the transition to a fully independent distribution model was put into place. Survey Solutions Scotland (SSS) was appointed in January 2001 as the Authorised distributor for all Trimble Survey and Engineering products for Scotland. Since that date SSS has grown year on year to become one of the largest independent dealers in Scotland.

Neill Lochhead

Neill Lochhead

Senior Technical Sales Consultant

Neill joined the company in 1998 after leaving Napier University. Neill obtained an HND in Computing whilst at Napier. After arriving at SSS he obtained an HNC in Topographic Studies from Glasgow College of Building.

Neill was originally recruited to take on for the software products in particular Terramodel and has progressed through the complete portfolio of Trimble products and software that we offer. Total Station, GPS, Laser Scanning, Rail Solutions and the new Spatial Imaging products from Trimble. Current responsibilities are for developing sales, technical support and training on our complete portfolio of products.

David joined the company in September 2003 after graduating from Glasgow University with a degree in Topographic Science in 1997 spending the next 6 years with a local Land Surveying company.

David has added valuable experience to our company’s technical expertise and in particular has shown an in depth knowledge in the GPS sector. His responsibilities as part of the team are to develop sales and provide technical support and training on our complete portfolio of products including Total Station, GPS, Laser Scanning and Spatial Imaging products from Trimble and Trimble Marine Positioning Solutions.

Jock Souter

Jock Souter

Training & Technical Support Applications Engineer

Jock joined the team in May 2010 to enhance the support services we can offer. After 5 years working directly for Trimble, Jock will help us to deal with the many requests we get for specialist product and application training. Jock has worked extensively in the UK and US as a Land and Engineering Surveyor, holds an MSc in Geodetic Surveying, and is a Member of the Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors. Jock’s unique style with the customers goes down very well, most of the time.

Jock was previously employed by Trimble as a technical applications engineer. Jock is one of more experienced UAS pilots and has spent the last 2 ˝ years working with both the Trimble UX5 fixed wing drone and more recently the multi-rotor Trimble ZX5 drone for capturing metric photography for mapping and modelling purposes. In addition to this Jock is our resident expert on monitoring solutions involving Trimble’s 4D control software solution. Personal Skills: Jock has the ability to work out things on his own. Never shy to seek technical advice and support from other sources he can then apply that information to provide the necessary bespoke solutions of our customers.

Richard Mason

Richard Mason

Technical Sales Consultant

Richard joined the company in May 2013. He graduated from Glasgow University with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Geographical Information in 2006. He began his career with DOF Subsea in UK before moving with DOF to Australia in 2011. In February 2012 he joined the Ultimate Positioning Group who are one of the Geospatial Trimble Distributors in Australia and began his career in Technical Sales. After approximately a year he decided to return home due to family pressures when we recruited Richard onto our Sales Team.

Richard has added valuable experience to our company’s technical expertise in the Marine sector and has shown us an aptitude for terrestrial Laser scanning together with a good understanding of the Geospatial market. His responsibilities as part of the team are to take on a specialty product area and to develop sales and provide technical support and training on our portfolio of core products including Total Station, GPS, Laser Scanning and Spatial Imaging products

Brian Core

Brian Core

Technical Sales Consultant

Brian joined the company in July 2015. He graduated from Glasgow University with an Honours degree in Topographic Science. After an initial spell with Amey (Asset Management Sector) he joined Henry Boot Construction in the Civil Engineering sector.

In addition to the technical skills required to sell Machine Control Solutions in his previous position Brian has quickly adapted to the Geospatial Portfolio of Solutions including the premium GNSS and Total Station systems used primarily by Land Surveyors and Civil Engineering Surveyors. He has quickly settled in and has mastered the Geospatial version of TBC software. He has built on his sales skills from the M/C business area and is quickly becoming established in the Team.

Jim joined the company in July 2004 after a long spell in motor industry with Vauxhall where he was involved with contract hire of motor vehicles. Jim originally joined us in an administration roll but we soon realised that he had more to offer us with respect to management of our rapidly growing hire fleet of equipment.

Lynsey joined the company in 1995 and has played an important role during the company's development period. As well as dealing with all of our personnel matters Lynsey oversees the Accounts, Credit Control and runs the office on a day to day basis.

Kelly joined Survey Solutions Scotland in August 2006. Since joining Kelly has proved to be a valuable member of staff and is now responsible for invoicing and credit control. Kelly also oversees courier logistics for equipment leaving the office and collections from customers.

Margaret joined Survey Solutions Scotland in October 2012. Since joining Margaret has proved to be a valuable member of staff and is the first point of contact being on the main telephone reception board. Margaret also takes care of administration duties.

Before joining us Margaret was involved in newspaper advertising and uses her telephone skills to good use.

Greg Colhoun

Greg Colhoun

Service Manager

Greg joined the company in 1993 and completed training on the Geodimeter 400, 500, 4400 before the newly released Geodimeter 600 in 1994. Having been with the company throughout its development from Geotronics Scotland, Spectra Physics Scotland and Spectra Precision Scotland, Greg was present at the start of what is now Survey Solutions Scotland. Prior to this, Greg completed a 4-year apprenticeship with Ferranti Electronics and served 11 years as a radio & radar electronic technician. 18 years later, Greg is currently the most experienced Trimble trained service technician in the UK and, as the Service Manager for SSS, is responsible for after sales customer care and the smooth running of our service workshop in Loanhead. Survey Solutions Scotland has the only Authorised Level 3 Trimble workshop in Scotland and takes pride in being able to provide a quick, efficient and caring after sales, repair and servicing facility for our customers.

David joined the Service Department in September 2001 having previously worked in the electronics industry in the Central belt of Scotland. He quickly got to grips with the wide variety of instruments and technology required to maintain, service and repair the complete range of products that we distribute in Scotland. This has enabled us to provide a very short turn round period for our customers which is always what we strive to achieve. David's appointment has proved to be a real asset to our company and customers alike.

Alistair Murray

Alistair Murray

Senior Service Engineer

Alistair has been calibrating and repairing lasers and surveying equipment for 25 years, starting out with Neylon Lasers Ltd at Dunfermline, in 1987 as a trainee technician. At that time Neylon Lasers were the sole dealers for Spectra Precision lasers (then Spectra Physics ) in Scotland. Over the years he gained full factory level 3 training in all of the Spectra lasers and equipment maintaining a calibration and repair service for customers throughout the UK. In 1999 he became sole owner of Neylon Lasers and developed the company over the next five years before joining forces with Survey Supplies. Alistair has been with the Survey Solutions team since August 2012. With a depth and knowledge of all makes of laser equipment , Alistair is a well known name throughout the country in the laser surveying industry .

Fraser joined us in August 2010 as part of the modern apprenticeship deal. He started in the service department as a school-leaver, and has worked through the Trimble certification scheme as well as toward attaining his NC through college day-release. Fraser became fully-certified in 2015 and his duties now include the maintenance and repair of all of the products currently supported by the service department.
